Billy Joel Bringing His Music to Rock Band 3

Play "Piano Man" on RB3's keyboard peripheral.

The keyboard peripheral opens up a world of new music-gaming possibilities for Rock Band 3. Case in point: the Piano Man himself, Billy Joel, who will bring his songs to Harmonix's music sim via a just announced DLC pack.

With six Grammy Awards, 100 million records sold worldwide, and Hall of Fame credentials on his resume, Joel was noticeably absent from the guitar-heavy tracks of the music-game genre. That changes with Rock Band 3.

"The addition of the keyboard made me interested in bringing my music to Rock Band," Joel said in a statement. "The game introduces music to an enthusiastic audience in a powerful way, and now also helps players get a grasp on the fundamentals of the keyboard."

The Billy Joel DLC pack will be available for download on December 14, featuring "Big Shot," "Captain Jack," "It's STill Rock 'n' Roll to Me," "Movin' Out," "Only the Good Die Young," "Piano Man," "Pressure," "Say Goodbye to Hollywood," "The Entertainer," and "The Stranger." All songs will be playable in Rock Band 3's Pro Keys mode.

"The moment our fans heard we were adding keyboard game play, they have been clamoring for music from The Piano Man," Paul DeGooyer, senior vice president of electronic games, music and programming for MTV Networks, stated. "We are delighted to be working with Billy to allow our fans to play his killer arrangements in Rock Band -- especially the fantastic keyboard parts."

Rock Band 3 is set to launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii on October 26.
