Killzone 3 Includes SOCOM 4 Beta Key

Look for the specially marked boxes when Killzone 3 launches next month.

Fully destructible environments, jet packs, mechs, a new melee combat system, tweaked controls, PlayStation Move support and stereoscopic 3D are some of the reasons to pick up Killzone 3. Today Guerrilla Games, Zipper Interactive, and Sony gave gamers another: a free ticket into the SOCOM 4 multiplayer beta.

Killzone 3 is set to hit store shelves on February 22, and specially marked boxes -- dog tags with the SOCOM 4 logo on the front cover -- will give buyers the opportunity to run SOCOM 4's online multiplayer mode through its paces.

"To get early access to the beta, look for the SOCOM 4 callout on the front of all eligible copies of Killzone 3 (including both the standalone and Helghast Editions)," Zipper Interactive's Chris Roper said in a statement. "Inside the box you'll find a PSN code that you'll be able to redeem for your early access as soon as the beta goes live."

Originally set for a fall 2010 release, Sony bumped SOCOM 4 back to sometime in the first quarter of 2011 way back in July. Neither Sony or Zipper have offered an updated release date since then. We do know that SOCOM 4 will feature new command controls for advanced squad tactics, PlayStation Move support, and a team-focused 32-person multiplayer. Zipper said more details, including the beta test date, will be revealed in the near future.
