Sleeker new model is 30 percent smaller than original; arriving at retailers this month for $50.
Gadget fans who haven't picked up the official PlayStation 3 Bluetooth headset may want to hold off a few weeks. Sony today used its PlayStation Blog to unveil the new version of the device, which is 30 percent smaller than the original. However, it will bear the same retail price of $50 when it arrives in stores later this month.
Unlike the first PS3 Bluetooth headset, the new model has built-in noise cancellation. It also sports a dedicated mute button, dual-microphone design, and its charging station doubles as a desktop microphone. It also boasts improved mobile phone compatibility, including three-way calling, call waiting, and six hours of talk time when fully charged.
Keep in mind, though, that almost any Bluetooth headset can be paired with the PlayStation 3, which also uses the wireless technology for its DualShock 3 controllers and optional remote control.
