In celebration of ten years of operation, Amazon Japan has posted a list of the ten most popular games it has sold (via Kotaku Japan). The number one title of the past decade was Dragon Quest IX, the mega-hit Nintendo DS RPG released last year.
In second place was another Square Enix RPG from last year, Final Fantasy XIII. In third place was Nintendo's first of five games on the list, New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
The only game on the list yet to be seen in the United States is Tomodachi Collection, a DS game released last year that revolves around Miis and a text-to-speech function that simply wouldn't work in English.
One big caveat: the dates for this sales list are October 1st, 2001 through June 30th, 2010. That means the more recent record-breaking debut of Pokemon Black & White didn't make the cut.
The full Top 10 list:
- Dragon Quest IX (DS)
- Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii)
- Wii Fit (Wii)
- Tomodachi Collection (DS)
- Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP)
- Dragon Quest VIII (PS2)
- New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
- Animal Crossing Wild World (DS)
- Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
