Final Fantasy Trading Card Game Launching in February

Promo card to be included with 3rd Birthday.

Square Enix announced today (via 4Gamer.net) that a Final Fantasy trading card game will be released in Japan starting on February 25, 2011. The game will be published by Hobby Japan.

Exactly what sort of collectible card game this new Final Fantasy product will be was not revealed in today's announcement. All that was promised was that the cards will feature "characters and summons creatures from the Final Fantasy series." Among the few sample cards released, some feature a more cartoony art style (like Cloud's card above) while others more closely resemble the games' 3D models (such as Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII).

The cards won't be available for purchase until February, but Square Enix will be including a "promotion card" with the upcoming PSP title, The 3rd Birthday.
